My Life in Film​

Ever since I was in diapers, I have been on a film set. My father, a now retired Property Master, often brought me to set for either on or off camera work. I have gained a lot of art department experience with over 20 years of working with my father as a Prop Assistant, Property Master and Armourer. My experience and enjoyment of working on film and television projects sparked my love for film. 

I studied journalism at California State University, Northridge and finished my degree in Mass Media / Communications at The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. During my time at The University of Akron, I joined WZIP & ZTV. I worked as the News Director for WZIP, providing 8 news updates per day on air, and developing weekend programming with interviews with local celebrities and viral sensations. During my time at ZTV, I worked with "Akron After Hours", a sketch comedy show, as a Writer, Segment Producer and on camera talent. After "Akron After Hours" I produced "Lights, Camera, Akron", a bi-weekly 30 minute news broadcast. As Producer, I researched stories, pulled associating video and audio clips for air and worked on packages with our on camera personalities. In 2015, "Akron After Hours" received an Emmy from NATAS Lower Great Lakes for our Halloween Special.

After graduation, I moved back to California, where I was born and raised. I then pursued my own career, outside of my father, in both television and film. During the first two and a half years, I have worked on over 20 television, film, music videos, and commercial productions. I aspire to one day win an Oscar, as well as another Emmy. I am working diligently to achieve my goals, by working as a Production Coordinator and Producer. I am willing to do whatever it takes to make a great production, on time and under budget. At ZTV, the motto was "Make Media, Make a Difference". It is a motto I carry with me as I pursue furthering my career.

My Life in Photo

In 2009, while my husband was stationed at MCB Camp Pendleton in beautiful San Diego, California I started my photo career. It started with taking photos of friends and local families, including homecomings, deployments, family photos and more. As my photo passion grew I started taking more classes in both film and digital photography. While studying at the University of Akron, I received my minor in Photography. To this day, my greatest joy is taking photos of families that last a lifetime.

My Life in Nonprofit

My venture into the world of nonprofits actually bloomed out of my producing career. Since BC (before Covid), I worked for an amazing production company who specalizes in live events and fundraising. I had the genuine pleasure of working with two incredible nonprofits, Angel Flight West and the Society of Motion Picture Television Engineers (SMPTE).

My job was to turn the Rose Garden outside the California Science Center aesthetically pleasing. During the cocktail hour, guests could roam about and socialize while looking at the items that were available for auction. My job was to turn the Rose Garden outside the California Science Center aesthetically pleasing. Then, the guests would go into the Wallis Annenberg building for the gala event. During that time, my job was to flip the site for the post-gala event and drone show. I did this for several years before AFW asked me to join their team to do auction procurement. I curated specialized and one-of-a-kind items for auction. My first year doing auction we raised $850,000. My second year was over 1 Million!​

I had a similar experience with SMPTE. For the past few years, I was hired on to produce daily wrap-up videos of the Media Technology Summit. My amazing videographer/editor and I would capture each day of the event and the next day, our videos would play before each speaking event and during downtime. Because of my familiarity with fundraising programs, specifically GiveSmart, the SMPTE team asked for help and advice on working the program. I have been working for them part-time ever since MTS 2025, while still producing the daily videos for the MTS conference. From that, I've been working on many things outside MTS by building websites, and providing administrative assistance to the SMPTE team.

My biggest nonprofit that I work with is GRNNRG.org. It was founded by my dad, legendary filmmaker and property master David Harshbarger, and his half-brother, Dr. Charles Hooper. I was brought on in July of 2025, lending my years of experience with nonprofits and auction procurement to help build out a great foundation for the nonprofit to bloom. At GRNNRG, we specialize in environmental research and education, community cleanup projects and beautification projects. Our mission is "Dedicated to a Healthier Planet". We are still quite young but we have spunk!
